Creole Design, LLC is headed by Sam Gianukos and is based on his vision. Over the past 20 years, Sam has built over 100 unique new period-style houses in Houston's inner-loop neighborhoods. His company has been heralded by the American Institute of Architects for his work, as doing a credible job of building mid-19th century New Orleanian prototypes. Creole Design, LLC has over 200 home designs in its archives. These designs draw on modern technology and building methods to maximize the amount of usable space. Inspiration came on a visit to New Orleans many years ago. Sam fell in love with the city, which has been called America’s greatest outdoor architectural museum. He particularly liked the graceful Greek Revival and highly ornamented Victorian styles that characterize much of New Orlean’s landscape. After that visit, Sam began building new period-style, custom homes in Houston. He drew design inspiration from the Crescent City, so his houses employ authentic and visually exciting details like pedimented windows and doors, six over six double hung windows, columned double or single-galleries (porches), Doric pilasters, paired brackets, entablatures, shutters and pine floors. He enjoys incorporating architectural antiques like porcelain tile, salvaged cypress doors and stained glass windows into the homes and often uses those selected by his clients.
